In the Qatar souks (where the pictures were taken) I felt I was able to  compare the lives of the people - seeing the difference between those shopping and those working. 

Luckily they were very happy for me to take photos of the way they lived and worked. 

I was interested in the auction that was taking palce. The men, surronding the auction table, were all bidding furiously on the iteams desptere to out bid the next man. Only later did I realise what was being auctioned - old boxes of monopoly or a pack of cards with the coco-cola trademark. Products that in the West we would donate to charity shops or throw away, these men were all well dressed yet they were fighting over nothing. Later one of the auction workers told me it was the influence of the west over these products which was why they wanted them, believing they held value and culture
